Common questions
Yes. You receive a Category B automatic-only licence. This lets you drive any automatic car. If you want to drive manual later, you can sit a second driving test in a manual car to remove the restriction.
EDT (Essential Driver Training) is a 12-hour mandatory training course set by the RSA. You need a minimum of twelve one-hour lessons with an approved driving instructor. Each lesson covers a specific competency and is signed off in your official EDT logbook.

All our lessons use the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, a two-pedal automatic. It is the same car available for pretest lessons and car hire on test day, so you sit your driving test in the car you trained in.
A Category B licence covers cars and small vans with a maximum weight of 3,500 kg and up to 8 passenger seats. With the automatic restriction, this applies to automatic vehicles only.
